Eid Mubarak to our Muslim readers!

Like most things, Microsoft decided they needed to get involved (a few centuries) late in the game.

One of my development teams is in Chandigarh, in the state of Punjab. The government there decided to declare Eid a national holiday. Fair enough. More interesting is when they decided…this morning. Just like that, a work holiday is decreed. Many people were already at work when they found out.

My team didn’t take the day off. The reason? None of the members are Muslim. Apparently, employers won’t honor a last minute religious holiday unless you’ve been fasting long enough to have earned it.
