Content Publishing
Cengage needed a better way to publish content. Their existing solution fell far short of allowing editors to create, format, publish, and share new material.
Open Source
Monsoon used open source software and plug-ins (such as the Drupal CMS and the FCK Editor) to build a solution that fit Cengage’s needs. By leveraging open source software, Monsoon was able to move quickly and build a robust solution in the time it would have taken to scope custom work.
Result
Monsoon created a Drupal site that allowed multiple users to login and create content. The content was displayed on the site and sortable via Tags. Each user could edit their own content and comment on the content of their peers. Revisions to content were tracked and pushed through an approval process. One of Cengage’s major needs was the capability to preserve formatting within Microsoft Word documents; Monsoon enhanced the FCK Editor to make this happen. Finally, export processes were customized to allow Cengage to transfer content in their proprietary XML format.
